That would have been amazing if Ivey went with his instincts and called with his 6's against durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Ivey is just a sick player definitely levels above the rest.

Its a shame that he didn't call, Durrr seems to have something about him that really makes him gets away with moves like this. If he's calling Mercier which looks so much like AA then I don't see why he's not calling Dwan.
But I've seen it so many times where players are really weak after betting pre flop, on the flop, turn and river. Look at the Phil Laak vs Patrick Antonious hand, its just so weird to not to need to slow down if your opponent is calling you down every street.

I personally think there is a lot of history between players and so much higher level thinking that happens outside of the standard TV shows that comes into play we just will never know about. I remember on one show there was a hand between Ivey and Matusow and when interviewing Matusow he said he made the call because of a hand that happened in a cash game the day before that had been played that way and some other stuff like that. So I think there is just a lot of things we never see going into effect with these players as well.

I love what Durrrr says after the hand is completed: "There must be something with these lights. I was staring at the same card and the lights really messed up my eye." PSYCHE!!! You were crying man. Admit it. Ivey had you skeeeered. Please don't call... lol. JK.

By the way, if I remember correctly this was shot right after Durrrr lost, what, 3 million to Isildur. So kudos to him that he was still able to pull off such a sick triple barrel.

Not going to pretend like I know what Ivey was thinking .... but....
IMO:
at the river I think Ivey knew dwan was bluffing, especially as you could tell dwan looked terrified over there waiting on iveys decision.
I think the reason he ended up folding is dwan could have something like qj, jt, kj, 99 in his range that he didn't think was good and was bluffing with the best hand.
It would have been pretty disgusting to make the hero call with pair of 6's and have dwan turn over jto and win.
with that said I don't think ive rooted harder for a player to make a call lol.

Look at the Phil Laak vs Patrick Antonious hand, its just so weird to not to need to slow down if your opponent is calling you down every street. As far as this hand goes, mercier pulled the squeeze preflop, which while could be an overpair I think there are some other random Aces in his range for this, Aqo, Ajo etc, I think he called preflop as he was getting 2-1 and potentially a ton of implied odds. Flop (55,000) Mercier fired a cbet, and Ivey raised (unsure of the reason of the raise, I'm obviously not on Ivey's level so not going to try to understand this part, maybe if someone could chime in on why the raise would be the correct move?) After Ivey's raise and Mercier's shove: There is $318, 800 in the pot with Ivey having to call: 106,400 getting 3-1 on his call. If you put AQo, and AJo in his range along with QQ+ Ivey has 46% equity in the pot. Even if he is only doing this with AQo and QQ+ Ivey has 34% equity (2-1 dog). Ivey is really only dead if Mercier is never shoving over with air and always has an overpair. I think at the end it really just game down to pot odds, you could tell by Ivey's expression he was disgusted with his call, but I think he had to do it (which explains why he just stacked the chips right in front of him. The only thing in the hand I don't understand is why he raised the flop.
