After playing down to the November 9 yesterday the 2011 World Series of Poker has come to an end, many of the Poker VT pros wish it hadn’t. 2011 was a very successful series for the Poker VT pros highlighted by bracelet wins from Brian Rast and Jason Somerville and nearly a November 9 appearance for Bryan Devonshire. Here’s a brief rundown of how the Poker VT pros fared at the series:
Brain Rast won two bracelets, the $1,500 Pot Limit Hold’em and the $50,000 Players Championship. It doesn’t get much bigger than the Players Championship and after a fierce heads up battle with Phil Hellmuth Rast emerged victorious. Rast earned nearly $2,000,000 at the series.
Jason Somerville also won a bracelet, taking down Event #20 for almost $500,000. Somerville was finally able to take home first prize after numerous close calls the past few years. He also finished 14th in the Pot Limit Hold’em Championship.
Bryan Devonshire wasn’t having a great series with two small cashes but that all changed at the Main Event. Devonshire was just a few spots away from the November 9 and finished in 12th place for over $600,000.
Jon Turner had a successful series, narrowly missing his first bracelet after finishing third in event #8. Jon also had a 7th place finish and two other cashes, including a deep run in the Main Event which pushed his winnings over $300,000 for the summer.
Adam Junglen also had some close calls with two 5th place finishes and a nice run in the Main Event. He cashed for over $225,000 and despite not getting a bracelet he’s confident he’ll have plenty of opportunities in the years to come.
While winning $75,000 would be a successful series for most players, it was definitely disappointing for Daniel Negreanu. Negreanu ran bad at some crucial times but still managed a deep run in the Main Event, finishing in 211th place. Rest assured that he’ll be back next year contending for bracelets once again.
With 3 bracelets and over $3,500,000 in winnings the 2011 WSOP was a great one for team Poker VT.
